If you’ve been a Bella Viva Orchards big-time fan (we hope!) for a while, chances are you know about our Certified Organic Apricots. If you’re new to us, we say you’re in for a treat, ‘cause these gorgeous, plump fruits give us plenty to talk about! And once you’ve had ‘em, we think they’ll give YOU plenty to talk about.
When it comes to our Certified Organic Apricots, it’s a curious thing that the dried version just might actually taste better than the fresh fruit. You may gasp with disbelief, now! How can this be, you might ask yourself!? Our theory is that when our spectacular Certified Organic Apricots are dried, the sugars and summery flavors are all concentrated in an almost candy-like treasure. Let your imagination drift to our Certified Organic Apricot orchard on a hot summer morning, where the sweet fragrance surrounds you and allow your mouth to start watering while we share some of our backstory on these stunning fruits.

Our beloved Certified Organic Apricots are grown in an estate orchard that’s been in the Martino family since 1943. Over the decades, we’ve refined our farming practices to a point where we feel we’ve reached an apricoty-sweet spot! This season, just the right amount of fruit grew on our trees, so we didn’t need to thin them as much as in other seasons. Another plus is that these quintessentially California fruits had the perfect amount of sun and very favorable weather to result in a VERY tasty crop this year. One bite of this year’s Regenerative Organic Certified California Apricots and you’ll know just what we’re talking about!
So, back to refining those farming practices: We’re proud to share that we’ve earned our Regenerative Organic Certification, and our Apricots are a prime example of “ROC” farming. On this estate orchard, hand-trimmed branches and other orchard vegetation are ground up right on the premises and mulched back into the ground. When you think about how much this helps heal the earth, it can be astounding. Mulching on the premises means that the cuttings do not need to be transported off-site for disposal or burned (big plusses for the environment). It also means that precious nutrients are sent right back into the soil. This mulching practice also helps preserve the moisture content of the soil. We just mentioned that the trees are hand-trimmed. It should come as no surprise that these same trees are thinned by actual human beings early in the season and hand-harvested when the fruits are perfectly ripe. No pollutants, no machinery. This is part of what we call “Bella Viva Orchards Made.” Reducing food waste, healing the earth and offering passionately and responsibly-produced foods that are good for you!
