For the Love of Prunes: An Ode to Organics

For the Love of Prunes: An Ode to Organics

When you think of autumn, we hope your thoughts include fruits such as our incredible Prunes. While Prunes are super tasty and super nutritious any time of the year, they are standouts this time of year and worthy of your attention. If you’ve been reading our newsletters for a while, chances are you know that we proudly released our first crop of Certified Organic Dried Pitted Prunes last Fall. These beautiful fruits are grown in an estate orchard that’s been in our family since 1943. It took years of loving, painstaking preparation to prepare these Prunes to earn organic certification. We were excited then and we are just as excited now!

These GMO-free and additive-free Prunes are the French Prune variety. Can we get an ooh-la-la, friends?! After experimentation, we found this variety, when grafted onto Plum rootstock, resulted in a superior fruit. Pardon us if we go on a Prune prattle, but these super-plump fruits look beautiful, they have a great texture and maybe best of all, they have a heavenly sweet taste. It’s hard to believe that these Prunes are really Certified Organic! They are, we promise!

So, what's so great about Certified Organic Prunes? Many experts will tell you that conventional, non-organic Prunes are just as nutritious and safe as Certified Organic Prunes. We totally respect that, but wouldn’t you rather eat a Prune that hasn’t seen any synthetic pesticides, herbicides or additives like potassium sorbate? We’ll bet you answered YES to this one. We feel the same way. With all this good news, isn’t your mouth watering for them? We couldn’t blame you for wanting to devour a whole bag in one sitting, but remember that they have a reputation for helping move things through the digestive system. That reputation is well-deserved. We say go ahead and enjoy them, but be mindful of their superpowers. Did we say superpowers? Those powers include so many health and nutritional benefits that they are often referred to as super fruits. Look ‘em up and see what the experts say about them.

They’re perfectly great to enjoy just as they are. Or make them a sweet addition to any meal. Or if you want to get creative, show them off in this company-worthy dinner entrée for Savory Prune Chicken. You’ll want to make this dish again and again, so be sure to stock up. To help you want to stock up, we’re offering our Certified Organic Dried Pitted Prunes for a whopping 33 percent off this month! That’s just $8.99 per pound of super-goodness! To sweeten that Prune pot, we’re offering 10 percent off all other Prune products until the end of this month. So get motivated, get inspired and get some Prune shopping done! Happy Fall to all!
