July in Central California means enjoying long warm days, picnicking with family and friends and celebrating the harvest of many sun-kissed fruits including Certified Organic Apricots! Bella Viva Orchards’ Certified Organic Apricots, that is!
For those of you who live in our area or who have been reading our monthly updates for a while, you know that it can get pretty warm where we are. The tradeoff for living and farming here, where it can be pretty hot and dry during the summer, is a season of harvesting what we think are the most incredible fruits and nuts in the world, if we may be so bold.

It’s nice and warm and it smells intensely of the fruits that have been basking in the California sun just waiting for this moment. Here in this orchard that’s been in the Martino family since 1943, it’s quiet. If you were here, it’s likely the only sounds you’d notice besides the chirping of birds and the buzzing of bees would be the rustling of branches as our harvest specialists, many who have been with our family for generations, pull only the prime, ripe fruit from the trees and our little old tractor pulling the gondolas of Apricots to the loading area so they can make the ten-minute trip down the road to our drying facilities. We never get tired of it.
Our Certified Organic Apricot orchard is a special place to us. It’s where the Martino kids grew up and where Victor learned the family farming business since he was a kid. Today, as we walk around, we note how grateful we are to grow these fruits and to be part of offering people real, honest, healthier food that’s grown and produced by real people.
